Team Trump Threatens Ron DeSantis

With the midterm elections happening today, America is focused on a red wave.

Will the Senate and House swing back to the GOP or will the Biden-Harris regime somehow maintain a stranglehold on power?

These are the questions that currently occupy the minds of the American people.

But for Donald Trump there’s something more important: beating down Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

Team Trump Goes After DeSantis

On Monday evening Trump held a large rally in the steel town of Dayton, Ohio. Trump plans to announce his run for President in about a week, and he’s laser-focused on bullying and intimidating DeSantis.

He recently called DeSantis “DeSanctimonious,” mocking the Florida governor’s squeaky clean image, and Trump’s minions are now also going after the 2024 contender.

The latest to take a cheap shot at DeSantis is Trump attorney Alina Habba, who said that DeSantis is just a Trump copycat and needs to check his ego.

Running in 2024 shouldn’t be anywhere on DeSantis’ mind, according to Habba, who said he should “stay” in his own state and forget about ever running against Trump.

Donald Trump’s lawyer Alina Habba issued a stern warning to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday night at the former president’s rally in Dayton, Ohio, telling the unofficial 2024 Republican presidential contender to stand down.

Habba’s Hard Sell

Habba made her comments on a pro-Trump YouTube channel, and the host agree dwith her “100%.” The Trump lawyer said that she thinks DeSantis makes a great Florida governor but is not even close to “ready” for the national stage.

Team DeSantis hasn’t responded, likely due to the fact that they are focused on winning reelection to the Florida governorship by as large a margin as possible as well as getting DeSantis-backed candidates into Congress.

Trump has many millions of diehard fans and supporters who are clearly going to back him when he runs. He can draw a crowd like nobody and drop nicknames and insults that get people positively roaring with laughter.

But this obsession he has with already running against DeSantis the day before the midterms have even happened is distracting from the GOP goal of winning seats.

It comes across as kind of egotistical and shortsighted. If Trump wants to take cheap shots at DeSantis, why can’t he wait until Congress turns red first?

The Bottom Line

Trump goes after his opponents like clockwork. It means they are on his radar in some way, and it’s nothing personal.

Trump clearly sees DeSantis as a threat and a destabilizing force for the unity of his MAGA base.

But he should be waiting to go after DeSantis and focus people on these kinds of topics. Now is the time to win midterms, not launch extremely early presidential infighting.
